I was incredibly excited to stumble across this site. Thank you to those that have put it together. My mother Mona is from Kousba from the El Tom family, daughter of Hanna Rachid El Tom, and I have many fond memories of the village and the people. I am going back God Willing, May 2006 and I cant wait.

How wonderful to discover this website and learn about my grandmother's home. Her name was Masha Farah and she came to the US in 1910.  She had sisters Helena and Mary and brothers, Jirji and twins Alexander and Bishara.  My grandmother married Ibrahim Essaf from Kafar Hilda.  Ibrahim had a brother who settled in Sydney, Australia and I have been there and met many many wonderful relatives on that side of the family.  My oldest son, Adam, is presently on his way home from his first visit to Lebanon and has just visited Kousba.  I can't wait to see pictures and hear if he has met any relatives. I recently was given a copy of the Farah Family Tree at a reunion of the Farah and Essaf families in Prospect Park, PA(USA). A couple of my cousins have done a remarkable job of researching the family history. I have never been to Lebanon myself but my father (Louis Essaf), son of Abraham and Marsha, has been there a number of times but not of late.
Thank you for creating this wonderful website for all of us to visit.

I was deeply moved when I found this site, consecrated to the city my grandmother used to talk so fondly about.
My name is Sergio Luiz Gaio. My father was Portuguese, but my mother's family comes from Kousba: my grandfather. Mikhail Calil Jreige(...-1923), and his wife, Sayda Ayoub(1896-1983), migrated to Brazil(Rio de Janeiro) after the First World War. They had three daughters:Helena(1915-2000), Jamile-my mother(1919-2003), and Magdalena(1923-1973), who had three sons: José, Joمo and Celso De la Peٌa(their father was Spanish descendant).

Came upon this site by accident. What a great idea. My mother is from Kousba and has been in Australia for over 60 years and has always instilled in us a love for the homeland so whenever I come across anything related to Lebanon I feel so proud. So to have found a website on Kousba was like finding a treasure. I had the opportunity of my first visit 10 years ago and was overcome by the magnificence of it. So well done. Bernadette.
